Awesome Alternate Versions--Hosed by Sean 2/26/08
i.e. live versions/covers/remixes. whether it's a song we know and love or one that no one else has heard it must be awesome
and alternate to its original. if you'd like to bring the originals we could listen to them after the festivities...
-how: i personally liked ben's tweak to our methods and would like to maintain the one listen per round. to throw my own wrench in the gears i'd like to try an experiment in ordering. we still
get to play 2 songs over 2 rounds but instead of a predetermined order we are going to make this mix on the fly. after the first song is played (that would be mine) whoever feels they have
the perfect song to go next goes. if more than one person wants to go i will have a potentially devious, bust most likely entertaining method of resolution. Then we will do it again for round
2 only i'm not necessarily going first... so, bring multiple songs and know how they begin.
Not In Correct Order
Round 1 & 2
"Diamond Sea"Yeah Yeah Yeahs - (Sonic Youth Cover) Neil
"Mad World" Michael Andrews and Gary Jules - (Tears for Fears cover) Neil

"Someone to Watch Over Me" - Ella Fitzgerald (from Gershwin musical Oh Kay! - 1926) Jeremy
"Video Tapez" by Amplive featuring Del the Funky Homosapien (Radiohead Remix) Ben

First Song/Last Song-Hosted by Ben-January
Well well well. since last record club i think i've told most of you the theme for the next *****rcep, but if not here it is:
first track / last track
what that means: you are to select one opening track from a record and one closing track from a record. they need not have to be from the same record unless your favorite first and last tracks come from the same record. while we don't require specific content guidelines in record club there are a couple of things i will say: no first or last tracks from best of compilations, various artists, mixtapes your high school sweetheart gave you, singles, eps, or soundtracks. while you may have your own opinion, to me those aren't fucking records. also if the song you want is actually track two or the second to last track from a record because the artist decided to have an 23 second "intro" or spoken word "outro" track, tough shit. intro and outro tracks are the first and last tracks of an album. take it up with the dumb-dumbs who make records that way.
the goal here is to get a cd with 8 phenomenal opening tracks and 8 phenomenal closing tracks. what makes a opening track or closing track phenomenal is of course up to you to decide.
one change will occur in the normal rcep rules:
as always every one will be playing 2 songs, but at my record club you will not be playing your first song twice. Each song will be played once and discussed.
Also, please play your track one first and your last track second.
01 Airbag / Radiohead (Ben)
02 Freeform Reform / Isolee (Todd)
03 Virginia Reel Around the Fountain (beth)
04 the Rainbow / Talk Talk (dan)
05 Teen Age Riot / Sonic Youth (Sean)
06 Turnstile Blues / Autolux (Heather)
07 I Am the Cosmos / Chris Bell (Sean S)
08 Express Yourself / Charles Wright and the Watts 103rd St Rhythm Band (Laura)
01 Inner City Blues / Marvin Gaye (dan)
02 A Day in the Life Of / the Beatles (Ben)
03 Any Where I Lay My Head / Tom Waits (Sean)
04 Light Leaves / Why? (Sean S)
05 100,000 Fireflies / the Magnetic Fields (Beth)
06 Mystery Achievement / the Pretenders (Todd)
07 Complicated Game / XTC (Laura)
08 Street Spirit / Radiohead (Heather)
